What is Steam?
It is a thing you download that lets you download other things. That is a terrible description. Steam is actually a digital content delivery system--the content being computer games. It can be downloaded for free from here. You can set up a simple social networking page at the Steam Community website here.
But why should I bother with PC games in this day and age?!
Because they are more customizable, and more importantly, cheaper.
I am poor and in middle school. My mom doesn't believe in buying things online!
First off, I don't like you. Second off, Steam is packed with free and nearly-free games.
TrackMania Nations Forever is a great free game.
Portal: First Slice contains almost all of Portal, one of the best games of 2007.
Peggle Extreme is a great timesink.
There are also lots of demos and free mods you can get. I'm sure there's more but my memory is TERRIBLE.
What games do you guys play?
Mostly Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead / L4D2, and some of us have Borderlands.
Quit boring me, I just want cheap shit!
Absurdly cheap, must-buy games, coming up!
They used to do weekend sales. Now they have lost their minds, and have sales ALL THE TIME. These are often as much as 75% off or more (TF2 for $2.49?!) so check often. Current deals for the lazy:
Who has a Steam profile?!
Lots of us. Look to your left, there is even a Steam icon under my avatar at this very moment. If you have a Steam ID, fill it in on your forum profile and you can have one too.
Now then, let the discussion begin. Probably complaints about TF2, but that's cool!
